Bikes For Mission Arlington
A few years ago it started with just two dads and their kids. We bought some bikes and took them to Mission Arlington's Christmas Store (www.missionarlington.org).
Once there, we realized the huge need that Mission Arlington has for children's bikes.
As you may know, Mission Arlington opens a Christmas store each year so thousands of families can "shop" for gifts at NO CHARGE.
Bicycles are one of the most needed items. They never have enough and nor could they ever have too many.
The children who receive these bikes might not receive anything else this Christmas.
That first year, we came to realize that the bikes were a blessing to needy children of Arlington, but our families were blessed as well.
It was a wonderful opportunity to talk to our kid's about the needs and circumstances of struggling families in our community and ultimately the role of faith in our lives.
This is an opportunity to teach our children to put "faith with works."
So over the past couple of years we have invited more families to take part in this effort to help families in need, while teaching our children that God spreads His blessings in the world by using people like you and me.
Faith must be accompanied by action - and God wants us to take action.
We feel that it is very important that we teach our kids to look for opportunities to help those in need - and have fun in the process.
We suggest that you involve your kids by letting them pick out the bike(s) and a helmet that is appropriate for a child their age and of course come with you.
If you would like to join us, bring your family and your bike(s) on Saturday, December 7th, at 9:00 am to the parking lot located at 2229 West Park Row (the new Pantego Christian Academy High School, across the street from Davidís Barbecue).
We will caravan down to Mission Arlington to deliver the bikes.
Once we arrive, you will have an opportunity to see the Christmas Store at Mission Arlington.
If you feel called to join in this effort, please fill out the information in the form to the left so that we may anticipate how many families will attend.
Lastly, please ask your friends to join you in this act of faith - Copy (CTL-C) and Paste (CTL-V) this website url: http://www.bikesformissionarlington.org to your Facebook Page.
The goal this year is 550 bikes!
